Gold Ridge Trail is located outside the Mazatzal Wilderness Area, but is closed to motor vehicles wider than 40 inches.
This trail is 4.6 miles long and has a more difficult rating. Hikers, horses, mountain bikes, and ATVs are permitted on this trail.


Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Gold Ridge Trail. Gas, food, and lodging can be found in Payson.

Best Time To Visit: Gold Ridge Trail is open spring through fall, depending on the weather.

Fees: No fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: ATVs must be no wider than 40 inches.

Directions: To reach Gold Ridge Trail from Payson, travel south on State Highway 87 to the Slate Creek Divide. Turn right (north) up Forest Road 201 for 7 miles to its end. This road gets progressively rougher and may require 4WD. Not recommended for horse-trailers or sedans.

To reach Gold Ridge Trail from Payson, travel south on State Highway 87, the trailhead is located right off the highway on the right side.
