Derrick Spur Trail coils through a cool ponderosa pine forest, near the Mogollon Rim. In the spring this trail is surrounded by wildflowers, while in the fall the foliage changes. When used in conjunction with Derrick Trail it creates a small loop.
This trail is 1 mile long, receives heavy use, and has an easiest rating. Hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding are permitted forms of use on this trail.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Derrick Spur Trail. Lodging, gas, and food can be found in Payson.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted at Derrick Spur Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Derrick Spur Trail is open spring through fall, depending on weather.

Fees: No fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: Motorized vehicles are prohibited from using this trail.

Directions: To reach Derrick Spur Trail from Payson, travel northeast on State Highway 260 to Forest Road 289. Look for a cattleguard. The trail starts at the fence; walk through. Derrick Spur Trail traverses small hills but travel is easy. This trail offers an alternative access to the Derrick Trail 33.
