Sunrise Snowmobile Trail in the non-snowy months is a group of Forest Roads that lead to and from Big Lake. During the winter these roads still lead to and from Big Lake, but only for snowmobiles. When enough snow is on the ground 200,000 of the 300,000 acres that are included in Springerville ranger district are open to snowmobile use, including the Forest Roads.
The roads that encompass this trail are State Highway 273 starting from the trailhead, State Highway 261 starting from the trailhead, Forest Road 409, Forest Road 249E, and the portion of Forest Road 116 that runs between Forest Road 249E and State Highway 273.
The areas not open to snowmobile use in the Springerville Ranger District are the Mt. Baldy Wilderness, Saint Peter's Dome Wildlife Enclosure, and the Pole Knoll Recreation Area. The trail passes through forest and meadow.


Facilities: Sunrise Snowmobile Trail provides toilets along the route. Food, gas and lodging can be found Springerville and Greer.

Best Time To Visit: Sunrise Snowmobile Trail is open when there is enough snow for snowmobiles to use it.

Fees: No fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: Snowmobiles are not permitted in Mt. Baldy Wilderness, Saint Peter's Dome Wildlife Enclosure, and the Pole Knoll Recreation Area.

Directions: To reach Sunrise Snowmobile Trail State Highway 261 trailhead from Springerville, travel west on State Highway 260 to State highway 261. Take State Highway 261 south to the trailhead.

To reach Sunrise Snowmobile Trail State Highway 273 from Springerville, travel west on State Highway 260 to State Highway 273. Travel southeast on State highway 273 to the trailhead.
