Jacques Marsh Wildlife Area is a 93 acre artificial wetland created from reclaimed wastewater. 18 waterfowl nesting islands can be found in the wetlands. Birds that can be seen in the wetland include Pintail, Redhead, Ruddy Duck, Canvasback, Bufflehead, Green-Winged and Cinnamon Teal, White-Faces Ibis, Spotted and Western Sandpiper, Bank Swallow, Purple Martin, Yellow-Headed Blackbird, and Bald Eagle.
The grasslands of the area provide refuge for Loggerhead Shrike, Western Kingbird, Western Bluebird, Northern Mockingbird, Sage Thrasher, Vesper Lark, and Savannah Sparrow. The wooded area around the ponds does the same for species such as Pygmy Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, and Grace's Warbler.
Mammals in the vicinity include elk, fox, coyote, and bobcat.


Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Jacques Marsh Wildlife Area. Gas, food, and lodging can be found in Pinetop-Lakeside.

Best Time To Visit: Jacques Marsh Wildlife Area is open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

Fees: No fee is charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: No fishing or camping allowed in the wildlife area.

Directions: To reach Jacques Marsh Wildlife Area from Show Low, travel south on State Highway 260 to Juniper Drive in Pinetop-Lakeside. Take a right on Juniper Drive and travel through a residential area and three cattleguards to reach the parking area on the right.
