Big Lake Nature Trail is a self-guided trail that offers a quick jaunt through the area around the Big Lake Visitor Center. Varying terrains can be witnessed on this short walk, making this an excellent trail to take the family on.
The first 300 feet of the trail is a 10-15% grade, which is quite steep. The last 100 feet of the trail goes through some rock outcrops that have some steep steps.
This trail is half a mile long and has been rated moderate. Only hikers are welcome on this trail.

Facilities: Big Lake Nature Trail is located next to the Big Lake Visitor Center which has restrooms in it. Gas, food, and lodging can be found in Springerville.

Reservations: Reservatons are needed or accepted at Big Lake Nature Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Big Lake Nature Trail is open from May to October, depending on weather conditions.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Directions: To reach Big Lake Nature Trail from Springerville, travel west on State Highway 260 to State Highway 261. Turn left on State Highway 261 to State Highway 273. Turn left on State Highway 273 to the Big Lake turn off (Forest Road 115). Turn right on Forest Road 115 and travel half a mile. The visitor center is on the left. The trail is located next to the visitor center.
