Bear Wallow Trail is located along the boundary of the Bear Wallow Wilderness and the Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. It follows Bear Wallow Creek through virgin around that boundary. Travelers may want to be wary as bears are known to inhabit the area.

There are two trails that interconnect with the Bear Wallow Trail and they are Reno Trail which drops into the canyon from the Reno Lookout Tower, and the Gobbler Point Trail which has an even sheerer drop but also has great scenery.

This trail is 6 miles long and has been given a moderate difficulty. Horseback riding and hiking are permitted on this trail.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Bear Wallow Trail. Food, gas, and lodging are available in Alpine.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted at Bear Wallow Trail.
