Flume Road Trail #154 follows the old road used during the construction of the dam and flume that divert and deliver water to nearby Irving Power Plant. The flume and power plant were built in 1916 and are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The trail starts across the creek from the parking area and parallels the creek for a short distance before climbing to a gate, which it passes through. The trail then ascends a hillside and junctions with Flume Road after .25 miles. The trail heads east, passing under the flume several times.
Upper Sonoran Desert vegetation (juniper, pinon, and agave) covers the arid hillsides, while riparian species (Fremont cottonwood and white-barked sycamore) line the creek banks. The trail ends at the dam, just downstream from Fossil Springs Wilderness Area.
At 3.5 miles and an elevation change of 440 feet, this trail should be considered easy. This trail is open to hikers and equestrians.
