Bull Spring Trail #34

Most of Bull Spring Trail #34 was once a primitive road. It passes through mountain chaparral and lies entirely within the rugged Mazatzal Wilderness Area. Bull Spring Trail connects with Saddle Ridge Trail #14 and Brush Trail #249 as it travels west from FR 406 to Bull Spring. The eastern 2.5 miles of Bull Spring Trail are part of the 790-mile, cross-state Arizona Trail.
For equestrians, stock water is available at Trail Spring and east of this trail at Oak Thicket Spring, Bull Frog Springs, Bull Springs, and Bull Trap Spring.
At 6.5 miles and an elevation change of about 1800 feet, this trail is considered of moderate difficulty. Hikers and equestrians are permitted to use this trail.

Facilities: A parking area is provided for Bull Spring Trail #34.

Reservations: Bull Spring Trail #34 does not require or accept reservations.

Best Time To Visit: Bull Spring Trail #34 is open year-round.

Fees: No fees are charged to use this trail.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicapped-accessible.

Rules: This is a Wilderness Area, no mechanized vehicles, including bikes, are permitted.

Directions: To reach Bull Spring Trail #34 from Payson: Head west on Main Street to the locked gate at Doll Baby Trailhead. Park there. Vehicles can pass beyond the gate by permit only. The trailhead for Bull Spring Trail #34 is off FR 406 beyond the gate.

For those towing a horse trailer, a 4WD is recommended.
