Wilson Mountain Trail #10 begins at a picnic ramada just up the old roadway from the parking area, which fills quickly on weekends. At one-half mile, it enters the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness and ascends through a pinion-juniper forest into Wilson Canyon.
Next, the trail climbs steeply along a fault canyon and turns east to reach the top of the first bench at 2.5 miles. From here the path continues one-half mile across a flat expanse to a junction with North Wilson Mountain Trail #123. To reach the top of Wilson Mountain, hikers must bear left (northwest) on Trail #10. The trail continues in the shade of gambel oaks and mixed conifers before climbing steeply through ponderosa pines to a signed trail junction at 4.25 miles.
From the junction, go north 1.25 miles to Canyon Overlook, or walk south one-half mile to Sedona Overlook. Views are outstanding from either vantage point.
At 5.6 miles and a total elevation change of 2,400 feet, this trail may be considered difficult.
