White Rock Spring Trail #39 is another link in the system of trails serving the Granite Mountain Wilderness. It connects Upper Pasture Trail #38, Cedar Springs Trail #41, and Granite Mountain Trail #261. It is but one of the recreational trails in this area that were originally roads built mostly in the late 1800's to provide horseback access to springs and other cattle waters.
The roads were later adopted by the Prescott National Forest as part of the overall transportation system on the Forest. Many of these old unmaintained roads have now been closed to motor vehicles and converted to recreational trails. White Rock Spring Trail #39 is one of those. The gradient on the trail is slight.
This trail is in only fair condition, the trail surface being generally rocky and dry. There are signs indicating springs, cattle water supplies, and other trail junctions. From its junction with Upper Pasture Trail #38, the trail extends north for 1.3 miles to its junction with Cedar Springs Trail #41 coming from the west. From there to Blair Pass (0.8 miles) the trail parallels the boundary of the Granite Mountain Wilderness.
At a length of 2 miles and a total elevation change of only about 500 feet, this trail may be considered easy.
