Upper Pasture Trail #38 provides a connecting link from White Rock Springs Trail #39 to Little Granite Mountain Trail #37 and is another access to the Granite Mountain Wilderness. Many of the recreational trails in this area were originally roads that were built mostly in the late 1800's to provide horseback access to springs and other cattle waters. They were lately adopted by the Prescott National Forest as part of the overall transportation system. Many of these old un-maintained roads have been closed to motor vehicles and converted to recreational trails.
Upper Pasture Trail #38 goes due north for about 1 mile and then turns east passing the turnoff to East Tank. Within another mile the trail intersects White Rock Springs Trail #39 coming from the north. It is then another 1.2 miles traveling southeast to Little Granite Mountain Trail #37. With a total length of 3.2 miles and a total elevation change of about 700 feet, the trail may be considered easy.
