Thomas Point Trail #142 climbs to the top of Oak Creek Canyon's east rim. For the first half-mile, the trail switchbacks upward in the shade of mixed conifers and oaks, with views of the sheer canyon wall to the west across Oak Creek. After a short, level stretch, the trail passes through desert vegetation on the south flank of the point and resumes its ascent via more switchbacks.
As the trail climbs, it offers excellent canyon views to the south and west. The trail reaches the crest and ends amid large rock outcroppings and tall conifers at Thomas Point. At 1 mile in length, Thomas Point Trail's ascending switchbacks still offer a moderately challenging hike.
