Sunrise Park Resort is located in the heart of Arizona's magnificent White Mountains. It is a recreational paradise offering a wide range of fun and excitement. In the winter, three mountains offer some of the best skiing in the western United States. With 65 runs, Sunrise Park Resort promises adventure for skiers of any level. A separate snowboarding area is available, as well as cross country ski trails and a special children's "ski-wee" area.
A Terrain Park is also available for snowboarders and skiers. Sunrise The park features a snow half pipe, implanted wood and metal rails, and a special event area with jumps ranging from beginner to advanced.
Beginning in the '97-98 season, the Sunrise Express High Speed Detachable Quad Chairlift replaced the primary lift on the Sunrise Mountain. It anchors the ten lifts in the area resulting in an uphill skier capacity of more than 16,000 skiers per hour.

Also available at Sunrise Park Resort are sleigh rides. Wearing sleighbells, beautiful Belgians pull the sleigh through freshly fallen snow. These old fashioned unique rides including very romantic Full Moon evening rides, a great way to add to the Christmas and New Year Holidays! The sleigh rides consist of a small romantic rides as well as rides for up to 15 people. They are located at the stables just inside the turnoff to the ski area.
Off the main entrance to the ski area, behind Lake Ono, a tubing hill is available. It's a great play area for all ages. Snow tubing is one of the fastest growing winter sports in America. Tube rentals are available at the Sunrise General Store.


Facilities: The Sunrise Park Lodge is the perfect place to relax and spend the evening at the end of the day. With 100 rooms, this lodge is located on Sunrise Lake and is available for winter and summer lodging. It offers two restaurants, a lounge, gift shop, indoor pool, whirlpool, outdoor whirlpool, sauna, and a game room. Complete meeting facilities are also available for up to 200 guests. Larger groups can be accommodated with additional unique facilites.
At the entrance of the Sunrise Park Resort, Sunrise RV Park has 20 spaces available. Each space provides a 30 amp electrical hook up. Water is not available at the sites, but can be obtained at the Sunrise General Store across the road. The Sunrise Park Lodge has public showers and laundry facilities are available. Spaces are available for rent during both the summer and winter months.
Sunrise Campground is also located at the entrance of the Sunrise Park Resort. A primitive campground in the quiet pines away from the hustle and bustle of city life, there are approximately 200 sites available. These sites can accomodate anything from tents to large motorhomes. No modern facilities or hookups can be found, but Port-a-Jons and water are available throughout the campground. Most sites have tables and firepits. Once again, public showers and laundry facilities are available at the Sunrise Park Lodge.
The campground is maintained and operated and by the White Mountain Apache Game and Fish Department. A permit is required. See the General Store for details.

Best Time To Visit: Sunrise Park Resort is open year-round for seasonal activities. The ski season is usually from mid-December to April. Call ahead for snow conditions.

Fees: Use fees are charged. Additional fees may be incurred for ski rental, lodging, permits, etc.

Accessibility: Persons with limited mobility should contact Sunrise Park Resort for details.

Rules: The Sunrise Park Resort recommends the following code for the safety of all skiers. 1. Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects. 2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. 3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above. 4. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others. 5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. 6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas. 7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

Directions: To reach the Sunrise Park Resort from Springerville, take Highway 260 approximately 25 miles to State Highway 273. Turn left on State Highway 273 and drive about 4 miles to the park.

From Phoenix take State Highway 87 north to Payson. From Payson, take State Highway 260 east following the Mogollon Rim to Show Low. At Show Low, continue on Highway 260 through Pinetop-Lakeside and McNary to State Highway 273. Turn Right on Highway 273. Sunrise Park Lodge is four miles south on Highway 273 and the Sunrise Ski Area is three miles past the lodge.
