Sunrise Park Resort, Arizona's largest ski resort, has begun summer scenic lift rides. Beginning late May through early September, the chair lift runs every weekend and holiday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The trails and lifts on Sunrise Mountain can also be used for biking. Special carriers mounted on the chairs allow mountain bikers to use the lift and bike down. Bikes can be rented at the Sunrise Park Lodge and Sunrise Mountain Base area.
Other summer activities at Sunrise Park Resort include; Fourth of July fireworks over Sunrise Lake, flyfishing schools, a 3-D archery shoot and lots more. Blue Sky Stable, open daily, is located in the area offering trail rides for riders of all levels and abilities as well as wagon rides.
Sunrise Lodge is also open for the summer months offering rooms, and rental opportunities for weddings and other special events.
Sunrise Lake is one of the best trout lakes in the state of Arizona. It offers rainbow, brook and Apache trout. A little boy fishing at Sunrise Lake on October 20, 1995 set the State Record for the largest Brook Trout with a whopping 4lb 15.2 oz. fish! Fly and bait fisherman alike all enjoy the challenge of angling this lake whether it be from shore, in a float tube, or a boat.
Fishing, camping and picnic supplies can be found at the General Store and Sunrise Marina. They are open daily offering fuel and permits as well for the White Mountain Apache Reservation.
The only lake on the White Mountain Apache Reservation that allows gas powered motors on boats, 10hp or less is Sunrise Lake. Fishing and boating permits are required and can be purchased at the Sunrise Marina or General Store.
