Smith Ravine Trail #297 offers trail users an opportunity to explore a section of the Bradshaw Mountains near Spruce Mountain. The vegetation is predominantly ponderosa pine, and the terrain is steep, well-drained, and mountainous. The 3-mile trail climbs 700 feet in a southwesterly direction for the first 1.5 miles. It then turns west and encounters Smith Ravine Spring, where water is sometimes available, at 1.7 miles. From here, the trail continues 1.3 miles to its end at Forest Road 52A (Walker Road/Forest Road 197). This difficult trail offers views of the Lynx Creek drainage to the north and east, and of Spruce Mountain Lookout to the south. Total elevation change is 340 feet. The trail is open to hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikes.
