Sentinel Trail

Sentinel Trail crosses Oak Creek to an island and crosses again to join the Kisva Trail. Interpretive topics for this trail include riparian and Upper Sonoran vegetation communities, regional geology, and recent and past cultures. Small footbridges are provided for the creek crossings. These footbridges are subject to closure during seasonal high water. At 0.2 miles and a total elevation change of only 10 feet, this is an easy hike.

Facilities: Sentinel Trail has restrooms and a picnic area.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Sentinel Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Sentinel Trail is open year-round.

Fees: There is a fee to use this trail.

Accessibility: This trail has no handicap access.

Rules: Daytime use only. Permits required. No pets. No swimming.

Directions: To reach Sentinel Trail from Sedona, take Hwy. 89A five miles southwest to Lower Red Rock Loop Rd.. Take Lower Red Rock Loop Rd. to Red Rock State Park Visitor Center. From the visitor center, use Bunkhouse Trail to access Sentinel Trail.
