Sedona Trails and Urban Pathways is a joint effort between the City of Sedona and the U.S. Forest Service. The 28-mile trail system encircles the city and provides direct access to and through Coconino National Forest lands. Designed for multi-modal recreation, the trail system provides areas for walking, hiking, equestrian use, and mountain and road bicycling.
The trail footprint and trailheads are 99 percent on Forest Service land. From any entry point on the trail loop, trail users will experience phenomenal views and see a variety of native plants. The red-rock scenery includes Cathedral Butte, Boynton Canyon, Cockscomb, Greyback, Ship Rock, Sugar Loaf Hill, and Camel Rock. The trail crosses Oak Creek in two places. Elevation changes are varied due to the extensive trail length, which also allows for varying degrees of hiking difficulty.
