Railroad Draw Trail #68 is mainly a cattle trail and is used infrequently for recreational hiking or riding. It is, however, a part of the trail network providing access to the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness.
After a fairly steep climb from Sycamore Creek, the trail is fairly level for the last 2.7 miles, staying at elevations of about 4,200 feet. The trail ends at its junction with FR 639. Sycamore Trail #63 intersects just 0.3 miles north of this road junction. Travel east on Sycamore Trail #63 for 1.75 miles to connect with Packard Mesa Trail #66. No drinking water is available on this trail. With a total elevation change but little over 600 feet along its length of 3 miles, Railroad Draw Trail #68 may be considered moderate to easy.

Directions: To reach Railroad Draw Trail #68 from Clarkdale, take the road to Tuzigoot Monument. After crossing the Verde River bridge, turn left immediately on the road that parallels the river. This becomes FR 131, which is dirt. Take this road for about 10 miles to the Sycamore Canyon overlook and the wilderness boundary just east of the Packard Ranch. Then take the road west past the Packard Ranch. At 1.5 miles from FR 131 there is a gate that may be locked. If so, hikers will have to walk to the trailhead from here. It is about 1.3 miles from this gate to where the trail begins just north of Sycamore Creek.
