Ox Bow Trail #163 provides access to the Cedar Bench Wilderness. Portions of the 5.8-mile long trail provide nice views of the Gap Creek drainage, which contains a perennial stream and a forest of large sycamores. From its start at Trail #27, Ox Bow Trail heads almost due west. At about 3.25 miles, it intersects with Chalk Tank Trail #506, which goes west to Government Spring. Past the intersection, Ox Bow Trail turns sharply southeast and passes Ox Bow Tank. At about 5 miles, the trail crosses the upper end of Gap Creek and continues less than a mile to its end on FR 68G. From start to finish, the trail provides a hike of moderate difficulty, climbing about 2,000 feet.
