Navajo National Monument preserves three of the most intact cliff dwellings of the ancestral puebloan people (Hisatsinom). The Navajo people who live here today call these ancient ones "Anasazi." The monument is high on the Shonto Plateau, overlooking the Tsegi Canyon system in the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona.
The monument features a visitor center, two short self-guided mesa top trails, two small campgrounds, and a picnic area. Rangers guide visitors on free tours of the Keet Seel and Betatakin cliff dwellings.

Facilities: Navajo National Monument provides restrooms nearby.

Reservations: Reservations are not accepted for Navajo National Monument.

Best Time To Visit: Navajo National Monument is open all year 8 am to 5 pm.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Accessibility: The Sandal Trail to the Betatakin Overlook is paved and accessible to wheelchairs; its steepness means that manual wheelchairs will need assistance for the return trip. The visitor center has automatic doors and is wheelchair-accessible.

One site at Sunset View Campground is specially paved for wheelchair access. The visitor center has a computer with an interactive journey for people with sight and hearing impairments; those who cannot walk to the sites will enjoy this, too, as will people who speak German and Japanese.

Rules: Unknown
