Metate Day-Use Area is located within Granite Basin Recreation Area. It provides access to the 0.6 mile long Metate Connector Trail #353. The trail is open to hikers and mountain bike riders.
Granite Basin Lake is a short distance from Metate Day-Use Area, providing fishing opportunities for visitors. Fish species here include largemouth bass, sunfish, and channel catfish.

Facilities: Metate Day-Use Area provides restrooms and drinking water.

Best Time To Visit: Metate Day-Use Area is open April 1 through May 14 from 6am to 8pm MST. May 15 through August 14 from 6am to 9pm MST. August 15 through September 30 from 6am to 8pm MST. October 1 through March 31 from 7am to 6pm MST.

Fees: A parking fee is charged. All Wednesdays are free parking days.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Cleaning or washing fish, animals, or food in drinking fountains or bathroom sinks is prohibited. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Discharging a weapon is prohibited at all times in Granite Basin Recreation Area.

Electric motors, oars, paddles, and sail powered boats are permitted on Granite Basin Lake. An Arizona fishing license is required for anglers age 14 and over. Check local fishing regulations. Swimming is not permitted at any time in Granite Basin Lake.

Directions: To reach Metate Day-Use Area from the courthouse in downtown Prescott, take Montezuma Street north. Montezuma will become Whipple Street, and Whipple will become Iron Springs Road. Follow Iron Springs Road to Forest Road 374. Follow 374 to the day-use area.
