Hickey Ditch Trail was originally used for maintenance of the Hickey Ditch - source of some of the oldest water rights in Northern Arizona, and the primary source of irrigation water for Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Short in length, relatively flat, and abundantly shaded, the trail is a nice place for a stroll. A variety of riparian vegetation attracts both birds and birdwatchers. This trail links to the Verde River Greenway Trail and several short trails that run through the park. The trail is only 1 mile long with a total elevation change of 50 feet, so it offers an easy hike.
