Bull Road Trail #202 begins in Ponderosa pines just east of Towers Mountain. It stays in timber as far as Hidden Tunnel Spring. Beyond the spring the trail stays mainly in chaparral vegetation. There is an attractive riparian area near the spring. At Hidden Tunnel Spring the entrance to an old mine tunnel was dammed to retain water, thus the name. The trail also offers panoramic views of Mingus Mountain, the San Francisco Peaks, and the Mogollon Rim.
The trailhead is on private property. After leaving FR 92 the trail descends steeply for about 2 miles to the junction with Bear Creek and Hidden Tunnel Springs. There is a short trail that goes up Bear Creek for 0.4 miles. The main trail then stays in Bear Creek for almost 4 miles.
At mile 4.0 there is a loop of the trail that turns west climbing about 250 feet above the creek. The loop goes for 1.1 miles north before it rejoins the main trail. At about mile 4.5 another trail intersects that extends southeast to connect with FR 89 near the Peck Mine. At mile 6.0 the main trail intersects Tuscumbia Trail #215 coming in from the west at FR 89 and the Goat Ranch.
At this point the trail crosses the road, turns east for about 0.3 miles and then north again for 1.2 miles to a corral near the end of a 4WD road. This road goes north for 3.5 miles to where it intersects FR 67. The average condition of this trail is only poor. Since the trail lies within the streambed for much of its length, it is likely to be badly eroded and overgrown with brush. If the trail is traveled in the spring, there will likely be water available in the creek. Be sure to check locally before depending on this water for drinking.
At 7.7 miles with a total elevation change of about 2,500 feet, this trail must be considered difficult.
