Boynton Canyon Trail #47 leads through one of the prettiest box canyons in Arizona's "Red Rock Country", and it is easily accessed. Thus the area often attracts too many hikers; those seeking solitude go elsewhere. The 2.5-mile trail begins at the signed trailhead by the parking area and immediately enters the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness Area. At 50 yards there is a signed trail junction. The main trail continues ahead, skirting Enchantment Resort while hugging the sheer cliffs of the canyon's east side. The trail is rocky in places but mostly level and partially shaded.
At 0.5 miles, the trail jogs away from the cliffs and moves up the easy grade of the canyon floor, offering little shade but nice views. At 1.5 miles, it bends left (west), enters a side canyon, and begins a gradual climb. Stands of mixed conifer offer shade but obscure much of the view. The trail ends at 2.5 miles. There is a total elevation change of 450 feet, so this trail offers a fairly easy hike.
