William Sherley Williams has been called the greatest mountain man and trapper of the frontier west. The town of Williams, a mountain a few miles south of town, and Bill Williams Monument Park were all named in his honor.
To commemorate his place in local history, an eight-and-a-half-foot, one-ton bronze statue of "Old Bill" was unveiled in the park in 1980. Many local events are held at the site, and both residents and visitors find the park a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a sunny afternoon.
