Rim Trail is an easy, 7.6-mile hike to 6,800 feet elevation. Along this trail are very scenic views. This trail is in the Ponderosa Pine forest, with Douglas fir, white fir and Gamble oak. Wildlife includes whitetail deer, mule deer, elk, black bear, cougar and wild turkey.
This trail is in the Sierra Ancha Wilderness.


Facilities: Unknown

Best Time To Visit: Rim Trail is open from late March through mid-December.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Motorized and mechanized vehicles are prohibited in the Wilderness Area.

Directions: To reach Rim Trail from Payson (AZ-260): turn right on Chamberlain Trail, turn right on AZ-288.(Young) From Young: Travel south on State Route #288 about 20 miles to Workman Creek Road (FR #487). Turn east onto FR 487 and drive 5.5 miles to the Carr Trailhead. The Rim Trail is approximately 1 mile down the Parker Creek Trail.
