The 11 miles of Big Bonito Creek rise in elevation from 5,250 to 7,000 feet. Visitors can hike or backpack down to the creek. The creek flows through the Bonito Prairie, with canyon walls filled with oak, willow, and cottonwood trees. Cool, clear waters spill over the rocks into the pools of brown and rainbow trout.
The area has spectacular beauty and many hunters come during the seasons for mountain lion, bear, and javelina.

Facilities: There are no facilities at Big Bonito Creek.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to enter Big Bonito Creek.

Best Time To Visit: Big Bonito Creek is open year-round.

Fees: No fees are charged to enter this area.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Special permits from the White Mountain Apache Tribe are required to hunt here.

Directions: To access Big Bonito Creek from Show Low, take state Hwy 77 to state Hwy 73. Take 73 to Fort Apache. Creek access by Reservation roads Y55, Y40, and Y70, southeast of Fort Apache.
