Phon D. Sutton's dispersed campsites are located in the Salt River Canyon. Plant life includes mesquite, paloverde, ironwood, and cactus. Fishing for bass, trout, and catfish is available in the adjacent Lower Salt River. Bears, mountain lions, coyotes, great blue herons, big horn sheep, and eagles are frequently seen in the area.


Facilities: No drinking water is available at Phon D. Sutton Campground.

Best Time To Visit: Phon D. Sutton Campground is open year round.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Accessibility: This campground is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Maximum length of stay is 14 days. This campground is located within the Tonto National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To reach Phon D. Sutton Campground from Apache Junction go West on US highway 89 for 5 miles to Ellsworth Usery Pass Road. Go North 8 miles to Bush highway. Go West 2 miles to forest route 169. Go North 1 mile to the campground.
