| Facilities: There are campsites at the trailhead, and water is available at Cold Springs Canyon. Best Time To Visit: Murphy Ranch Trail is normally open late March through mid-December. Fees: No fees are charged. Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible. Rules: Closed to all motorized vehicles. Directions: To reach Murphy Ranch Trail from Payson: Start out going north on AZ-87, turn right on AZ-260. Turn right on Chamberlain Trail, turn right on AZ-288, which takes you to Young. From Young: Travel about 20 miles south on State Highway #288, take Forest Road #487 6.5 miles to Forest Road #487A. The trailhead is about 100 feet before the Murphy Ranch Gate, or can be accessed fro the Rim Trail #139.
