The 2.8-mile Basin Trail offers an alternate route by which to access the tremendous Winn Falls which tumble 400 feet off the north shoulder of Sanders Peak. This friendly pathway leaves Forest Road #42 and follows a moderate gradient through oak and pine woodlands, past Welsh Seep, to a junction with the Greenhouse Trail #248 at the end of FR 713. This trail is also accessible via the Ash Spring Trail #247A out of Herb Martyr Campground.
