Mesquite Campground is located along the Verde River. Good fishing opportunities for catfish, crappie, blue gill, and bass are in the nearby Horseshoe Reservoir. The area is a good spot for bird watching, some of the birds seen include bald eagles and great blue herons.
This campground has 12 single sites located along the Verde River, for the primitive camper.


Facilities: No drinking water available at Mesquite Campground. Facilities can be found in Carefree.

Best Time To Visit: Mesquite Campground is open year round.

Fees: A camping fee is charged.

Accessibility: This campground is handicap accessible.

Rules: This campground is located within the Tonto National Forest; forest regulations apply. Maximum length of stay is 14 days. Pets must be on-leash at all times.

Directions: To reach Mesquite Campground from Carefree go east on Cave Creek Road 5 miles to Bartlett Dam Road. Go east on Bartlett Dam Road 5 miles to Horseshoe Dam Road. Go Northeast on Horseshoe Dam Road 13 miles to the campground.
