The Lower Salt River offers boating, picnicking, fishing, and water play. Present fish species include smallmouth and largemouth bass, channel and flathead catfish, carp, and rainbow trout.


Facilities: Vault toilets are available, but no drinking water. Commercial services are available at the full service Saguaro Lake Marina, Saguaro Lake Ranch Resort, and in Mesa.

Best Time To Visit: Lower Salt River is open from late April through late September.

Rules: Glass containers are not allowed in the Lower Salt River Area. Motorized watercrafts are not allowed. Please use trash receptacles.

Directions: To reach Lower Salt River from Scottsdale go south on AZ-101, turn east on U.S. 60 and travel for 7 miles to the Power Road Exit; turn north. This becomes Bush Hwy/Forest Road (FR) 204: Continue north and northeast to the river.
