Aspen Campground is set in ponderosa pine, oak, aspen, and Douglas fir. There are 136 single sites and 1 group site available. Woods Canyon Lake offers boating and fishing with trails at the north end of the lake. An RV sanitary station is nearby.
Aspen Campground is one of seven Campgrounds in the Rim Lakes Recreation Area near Payson, Arizona. Aspen Campground is composed of four loops in alternating meadow and wooded areas. The campground is large and rambling and offers several camping experiences and environments from marshy meadows to a rocky forest.
For viewing there are many birds, squirrels, deer, and elk. Most sites are well separated for privacy. Firewood is available. Aspen Campground has paved roads. There are campground hosts who have firewood for sale.
Deer, skunks and bear are common campground visitors. Visitors to Aspen Campground should be prepared for rain, often heavy through July and August. Because of the high elevation be prepared for cool night time temperatures.


Facilities: Restrooms, fire rings, and picnic tables are provided at Aspen Campground. Aspen Campground also offers showers, trash service, and potable water.

Best Time To Visit: Aspen Campground is open May through October, weather permitting.

Fees: A camping fee is charged.

Accessibility: This area is handicap accessible.

Rules: This campground is located within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest; forest regulations apply. Pets must be restrained or on a leash.

Directions: Aspen Campground is located just off Woods Canyon Lake, approximately 4 miles north of State Highway 260 at mile marker 282, located directly across from the Rim Visitor Information Station or 25 miles west of Heber, Arizona.
