The Hospital Flat Campground is in a primarily spruce and fir forest with a meadow in the middle of the campground. There is a central parking area with a short hike to the campground. A small creek runs through the campground where you can fish and play. Deer, bears, skunks, squirrels, and chipmunks are common to the area.


Facilities: Restrooms and drinking water are provided. Supplies are available in Safford.

Best Time To Visit: May through October

Fees: There is a fee for overnight use of the area.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: This is a tent-only campground.

Directions: From Safford, travel south on U.S. Highway 191 to the town of Swift. Turn off onto State Route 366 and continue, as it becomes Swift Trail Road and Forest Road #803. Turn south onto Forest Road 652.
