| Facilities: Campsites are available at the trailheads and at Hell's Gate Trail. Best Time To Visit: The Hell's Gate Trail is normally open April through November. Fees: No fees are charged. Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible. Rules: If you PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT! Directions: To reach the Hell's Gate Trail from Payson travel approximately 11.5 miles east of Payson on State Highway #260, (past mile marker 266). Turn right onto Forest Road #405A and follow it for 0.5 mile to a cement water trough on the right, which is the Hell's Gate Ridge Trailhead. You will be on Hellsgate Trail #37, and 6 miles of hiking will bring you to the creek.
