Forest Loop Trail, located within the Dead Horse Ranch State Park, is a 0.5 mile loop. It starts and ends in the River Day Use Area. It also circles around and through a diversely forested area and provides river access by way of short narrow side trails.


Facilities: Restrooms, drinking water, and over 20 individual camping sites are provided at Forest Loop Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Forest Loop Trail is open 365 days a year. The Ranger Station opens at 8:00 a.m. except on Christmas Day.

Fees: Daily entrance and camping fees apply.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Pets must be kept on leash and not left unattended. Firewood gathering is prohibited.

Directions: To get to Forest Loop Trail from I-17 take (exit 287) Hwy 260 to Cottonwood. Hwy. 260 intersects with 89A/Main Street. Turn left on Main Street and proceed to North 10th Street. Turn right (north) on North 10th Street. Continue on North 10th across the Verde River Bridge to the park entrance.
