Forked Pine Campground is located next to Ashurst Lake. It offers 25 individual campsites at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Tents and small RV's are permitted. Forked Pine Campground hugs the lakeshore with campsites huddled in a picturesque stand of gnarly old juniper trees and pinon pines.

Adjacent to Forked Pine Campground, lies Ashurst Lake Campground. Ashurst Lake Campground offers an additional 25 campsites.

When these campgrounds are "closed" and there is no host, the public may still use them, providing the road is open, however, drinking water will not be available and all toilets will be boarded up except for the one closest to the main boat launch, which will be maintained by employees and volunteers on the Flagstaff Center. And as always, camping around Ashurst Lake is only permitted in designated sites and nowhere else for a one-mile radius around each of the campgrounds.

Located twenty miles southeast of Flagstaff, Ashurst Lake is has Northern Pike and boasts enough wind to attract a fairly large following of windsurfers.

One of Ashurst Lake's most notable characteristics is its' ability to hold a high water level in drought years. In addition to fishing and board sailing, the lake offers excellent opportunities for bird watching during the spring waterfowl migration. Bald eagles and osprey can also be seen in the area, along with a number of species of hawks and songbirds.

Facilities: Restrooms, drinking water, fire rings, picnic tables, and grills are provided at Forked Pine Campground.

Best Time To Visit: The Forked Pine Campground is generally open May 1st to the end of September (weather permitting). There is a campground host in season. The campground is often open year-round if the weather permits.

Fees: An overnight camping fee is charged.

Accessibility: The area is not accessible.

Rules: Tents and small motor homes are permitted. Forked Pine permits trailers less than 16 feet. Pets must always be restrained or on a leash. No horses allowed in the campground. Motorbikes may only be used for entering or leaving campsite. This campground is located within the Coconino National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To reach the Forked Pine Campground from Flagstaff drive south 19 miles on Forest Highway 3 (Lake Mary Road) then east about 4 miles on Forest Road 82 East.
