| Facilities: Thumb Butte provides restrooms, picnic tables, and grills are at the parking area. Drinking water is provided in-season. There is also trash collection. Best Time To Visit: Thumb Butte Day Use Area is open daily, year-round. Hours are from dawn to dusk and vary by season. Obey all posted hours. To protect nesting peregrine falcons, the Thumb Butte cliff face and surrounding area are closed to rock climbing each winter and spring to allow for undisturbed falcon nesting. Trail 33 is open all year.Fees: A parking fee is charged. Accessibility: The parking area is handicap accessible, but the climbing area is not. Picnic areas are accessible. Rules: Unknown Directions: To reach Thumb Butte from the courthouse plaza in downtown Prescott travel west on Gurley Street (which becomes Thumb Butte Road) to its end at the Butte parking area. Approach is via a paved loop trail with its peak at the saddle beneath the south end of the crag. Once at the saddle look for faint use trails heading to either side around its circumference. Be prepared for some significant bushwhacking and scrambling to get to some of the established routes.
