The East Verde River offers camping, fishing, picnicking, and water-play to its' visitors. The Arizona Game and Fish Department began stocking the creek with rainbow trout in mid April and stocks it on a regular basis until late August.

Directions: To reach the East Verde River from Payson travel northeast on AZ 87 to the junction of State Hwy. 87 and Houston Mesa/Forest Road 199, turn east. Travel on Forest Road 199, for 6 miles to the site.
