Considered one of the busiest lakes above the Mogollon Rim, Woods Canyon lake offers fishing, and small boat rentals. There is a general store and plenty of campgrounds. There is no swimming allowed in the lake at the request of the Arizona Game and Fish Department. There is a boat launch area for small boats such as canoes and boats with electric motors.

Facilities: A number of campgrounds, boat rentals and a general store are available at Woods Canyon Lake.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Woods Canyon Lake.

Best Time To Visit: Woods Canyon Lake freezes during the winter.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: There is no swimming allowed in the lake.

Directions: To reach Woods Canyon from Payson turn right onto State Route 260. Follow 260 to the top of the Rim. Just as the highway crests the ascent there will be a left turn onto Forest Road 300, the Old Rim Road. Follow this road until the pavement ends. Turn right into the lake area.
