| Facilities: A number of campgrounds, boat rentals and a general store are available at Woods Canyon Lake. A boat launch area is also provided. Woods Canyon Lake also provides restrooms and potable water. Best Time To Visit: Woods Canyon Lake freezes during the winter. The area is open early May to late October, weather permitting. Fees: No fees are charged. Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible. Rules: There is no swimming allowed in the lake. Pets must be leashed. A valid Arizona fishing license is required for anglers 14 and older. Directions: To reach Woods Canyon from Payson turn right onto State Route 260. Follow 260 to the top of the Rim. Just as the highway crests the ascent there will be a left turn onto Forest Road 300, the Old Rim Road. Follow this road until the pavement ends. Turn right into the lake area.
