Dogtown Lake Trail

Dogtown Lake Trail provides visitors a pleasant route for a stroll around Dogtown Lake. Another purpose for the trail is to prevent trampling damage to the immediate lake shore. The trail measures 1.8 miles and has been rated as "easy."
The trailhead is at 7100 feet elevation. Trail starts just west of the picnic area at Dogtown Lake. The trail follows an old road on the south shore, then goes around a cove, back through the fence and across the west end of the lake. The trail is open to hikers only.

Facilities: There are restrooms, picnic tables, and a campground at Dogtown Lake, which Dogtown Lake Trail goes around.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Dogtown Lake Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Dogtown Lake Trail is open from early spring to early winter.

Fees: There are no fees associated with this trail.

Accessibility: Areas of Dogtown Lake are handicapped accessible. The trail is not accessible.

Rules: No motorized vehicles are permitted. Horses are not permitted in Dogtown Lake Campground.

Directions: To reach the Dogtown Lake Trail from Williams, take Fourth Street (County Road 73) south about 4 miles to the junction with Forest Road 140. Turn left and go about 3 miles to Forest Road 132; turn left onto Forest Road 132 and continue about one mile to the Dogtown Recreation Area.
