Dan's Trail is a difficult 4.8-mile trail at 6,720 feet elevation before climbing another 400 feet. This trail is surrounded by beautiful ponderosa pine and fir forest. This trail is an old logging road that connects with other roads. Pay attention to trail markers. Visitors can hike or ride directly from Valentine Ridge Campground following Forest Road 18 and Valentine Trail 551.


Facilities: There are no facilities available at Dan's Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Dan's Trail is normally open spring through fall.

Fees: There are no use fees associated with this trail.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: This trail is located within the Tonto National Forest; forest regulations apply. If you PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT!

Directions: To reach Dan's Trail from Payson, travel east on State Highway 260 to State Highway 288. On state Highway 288 travel to Young. From Young, travel about 15 miles northeast on Forest Road 512 to Forest Road 109. Take Forest Road 109 1/2 mile east of Forest Road 512.
