The Crescent Moon picnic area, 7 miles southwest of Sedona at 4,000 feet elevation, is located at the towering Cathedral Rock. People come here to fish, swim, and wade in the creek, as well as to picnic and photograph the scenery.

Facilities: Vault toilets and a drinking fountain are provided at Crescent Moon Picnic Area.

Reservations: Reservations are accepted to use Crescent Moon Picnic Area.

Best Time To Visit: Crescent Moon Picnic Area is open year-round. At times it can become quite crowded, so try to come early in the morning or on a weekday.

Fees: A day-use fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: This area is located within the Coconino National Forest; forest regulations apply. No camping is permitted.

Directions: To reach Crescent Moon Picnic Area from Sedona, travel west on U.S. Highway 89A. Just outside town, turn south on Forest Road 216 (Upper Red Rock Loop Road). Drive about 1.5 miles and follow the signs to Red Rock Crossing. All roads except the short segment leading from Red Rock Crossing Road to the picnic area are paved.
