Cottonwood Trail is a difficult 10.8-mile trail beginning at 3,300 feet elevation, to climb another 1,440 feet. Cottonwood Trail has seasonal water flows in the Bronco and nearby Cottonwood Creek, there are also several permanent springs nearby. Plus there are some good views of Bronco Butte, Continental Mt., and Skull Mesa.

Facilities: There are no facilities available at Cottonwood Trail.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Cottonwood Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Cottonwood Trail is open year-round.

Fees: There are no use fees associated with this trail.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: This trail is located within the Tonto National Forest; forest regulations apply. If you PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT!

Directions: To reach Cottonwood Trail from Phoenix, travel north on Interstate 17 to the Carefree Highway. Take the Carefree Highway east to Cave Creek. From Cave Creek, travel north on Forest Road 48 to Forest Road 247 the trail starts at the junction of 247 and 48.
