Check Dam Trail is an easy, 2.1-mile trail, beginning at 4,040 feet elevation, and climbing to 4,540 feet. The trail offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and Upper Pinal Creek. Mountain brush dominates the landscape and provides a diverse habitat for the wildlife in the area.

Facilities: There are no facilities available at the Check Dam Trail.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Check Dam Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Check Dam Trail is open year-round.

Fees: There are no use fees associated with this trail.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: This trail is located within the Tonto National Forest; forest regulations apply. If you PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT!

Directions: To reach Check Dam Trail from Apache Junction, travel east on U.S. Highway 60 to Globe. From Globe, travel south on Forest Road 222 to the Icehouse Civilian Conservation Corp Campground.
