Buffalo Crossing Campground sits on the East Fork of the Black River, as it meanders through a forested valley, shaded by tall ponderosa pine. Grasses, alder, and streamside hardwoods border the campground. Hiking and fishing is common near the campground. Buffalo Crossing is the largest campground along the river, and can accommodate larger recreation vehicles. This campground is for those who enjoy camping in a semi-developed campground.

Directions: To reach Buffalo Crossing Campground from Springerville, travel south on U.S. Highway 191. 2 miles north of Alpine on US Highway 191 is Forest Road 249. Turn west and follow this wide, graveled forest road 5 miles to Forest Road 276. Turn south and follow Forest Road 276 for six miles to the East Fork developed camping area.
