Situated in the mixed conifer and aspen Brook Char Campground offers entirely walk-in sites. A central parking area is located adjacent to the paved access road through the campground. Because of the high elevation be prepared for cool nighttime temperatures and expect rain, often heavy, through July and August. There are 13 camping sites available for tents only.

A nature trail is located nearby. There are also scheduled programs at Visitor's Center and a full service store at Big Lake. Brook Char Campground also offers campground hosts to help campers find a suitable campsite.

Facilities: Restrooms are available at Brook Char Campground. The campground also offers fire rings, grills and picnic tables, and drinking water. There is a store nearby at Big Lake.

Best Time To Visit: Brook Char Campground is open May through September.

Fees: An overnight camping fee is charged. There is no-fee camping after mid-October, weather permitting.

Accessibility: This campground is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Pets must be restrained or on a leash.

Directions: Brook Char Campground is located in the Big Lake Recreation Area. Big Lake is located about 25 miles south of Springerville on State Road 273.
