National Recreation Areas

Chilkat State Park
This park offers a log cabin visitor center, 15-site campground, picnic area, boat launch and trails. The campground sits in a mixed forest of evergreens and deciduous trees at the edge of Chilkat Inlet. The boat launch provides access to the inlet and the run of king salmon in early June. The visitor center offers incredible views of Chilkat Inlet and Rainbow and Davidson glaciers.

Chilkoot Lake State Recreation Site
The park and surrounding area offers some of the best salmon fishing in Southeast Alaska, with four salmon runs, starting in mid-June and ending in mid-October.

Eagle Beach State Recreation Site
This park unit has 12 primitive sites in the forested section of the park. Large beach and river bars offer excellent beachcombing and fishing. Whales, sea lions, and seal frequent the ocean nearby.

Point Bridget State Park
The park consists of over 2,800 acres of open forest, rocky beaches and meadowlands. Hiking, wildlife viewing, and bird watching are all popular activities at this state park.

Portage Cove State Recreation Site
Portage Cove State Recreation Site sits on the water's edge near downtown Haines and offers a wonderful view of the Inlet and surrounding mountains.
