Brooks Camp

The Brooks Camp Campground is located approximately 1/4 mile north of the Brooks Camp Visitor Center, and is the only established campsite in Katmai. The campsite is limited to 60 persons per day. It is for this reason that the required advance reservations for camping permits are filled very early in the application period.
The focus of visitor use at the Brooks Camp is at the Brooks River, where brown bear congregate to feed on sockeye salmon. Three bear viewing platforms are located along the Brooks River.
