Birch Lake State Recreation Area is nestled between a lilypad-covered lake and forested wetlands. There are 17 long parking spaces for motor homes and 3 short parking spaces for smaller self-contained vehicles or for vehicles engaged in tent camping.

Facilities: A drinking water well and restrooms are provided. Also provided are picnic tables, sitting benches, and fire rings. Major services are available in North Pole and Fairbanks (15 miles away).

Reservations: Unknown

Best Time To Visit: Operating months vary by weather. Please call the Ranger to determine the park's operating season.

Fees: Various fees, including day usage, overnight camping, and use of the boat launch may apply.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: Do not leave unattached boat trailers in the boat launch parking lot. Firewood is available for sale during the summer. Users should bring their own firewood, especially in winter for use in the cabin, since there is not much left to scavenge in the surrounding forest. Camping is limited to 15 days.

Directions: Access is from the military recreation area road at Milepost 305.2 of the Richardson Highway.
